The Sacred Podcast

L’Erin Alta

L’Erin Alta has always been a self-described rebel.

As a young kid in Sunday School, she demanded an explanation when told that women should obey their husbands. “My mom is a single mom. She doesn’t obey anyone.”

Then came her exploration of Rastafarianism, Islam, the Bahai faith and many others. She took what worked for her and left the rest.

In episode 4 of The Sacred Podcast, we talked about:

  • what feminism has to do with spirituality
  • how to avoid the dangers of being overly dependent on your spiritual community
  • what L’Erin asked her surgeon and anaesthesiologist to do while she was undergoing brain surgery (yes! brain surgery!)

Like L’Erin, it’s a fiery and fascinating conversation.
