How to Pray (part 2): finding a prayer partner.

A few weeks ago, we talked about redefining our relationship to prayer.

Today’s AnnikaTV guest is taking that conversation one step further, by sharing the story of how she found her own prayer partner and what they do together.

What I love about her story is that when her friend suggested they become prayer partners, neither of them had ever tried it before. They didn’t have a teacher guiding them or a manual with detailed instructions.

In fact, they weren’t at all sure what the heck a prayer partner relationship would even look like.

So what did they do?

They made it up.

They created a format, vocabulary and approach to praying with one another that works for them, their lifestyle and their personal preferences.

This is PRECISELY my dream for all of our spiritual practices.

That we will not feel confined or bound by someone else’s model.

That we will allow our courage and creativity to guide us in how we connect to the Divine, God, the Universe, Love – whatever name you like.

Define and live your spirituality on YOUR terms.

Have you ever had a prayer partner (even if you didn’t call it that)? If so, I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.

And if you’ve never had a prayer partner experience, but you’re curious about experimenting with it:

Who in your life would you want to ask to be your prayer partner? Why would you choose that person?

Looking forward to hearing from you, as always.
